Together with a team in which I participated some time ago, we discovered that we had some problems when we delivered feedback, many times we did it only as criticism or only judgments about what the other was doing. Some time we started using a model called SBI, but we were short. At some point a couple of us attended a Management 3.0 course we came up with using Feedback wrap. We did this one by one among us.
How I did it
We review the feedback wrap structure as a whole.
1.- Describe the context
2.- List the observations
3.- Express your emotions
4.- Sort by value
5.- End with suggestions
We made sure everyone understood, giving a couple of examples.
I invited them to put together couples to give feedback and gave them some time to write it individually. After that, feedback was delivered and it was rotated until it passed by everyone.
I asked them to share what the experience of both the feedback and the one they received was like.
Additionally, after feedback wrap, we complement it with effective commitments that way it could help improve as a team and sustain the changes.
What went well
What didn't go so well
Each person made commitments according to the feedback received, for a long time that remained as our way of giving feedback.
